Hi! I’m so glad you’re here!Growing up I had so many ideas of what life would look like but I quickly learned that there is no map marked out for us to follow. I’m realizing we can have something so much better–a Guide.
To give some backstory, in 2007 I graduated with my undergrad in Biblical Studies and two years later found myself living in Zambia, Africa as a missionary. When I returned to the States God led me to pursue a career as an Esthetician, and in my six years working in skin care I fell in love with the opportunity to help someone feel better about themselves in that way. In 2012 I began to consider the idea of being a counselor and quickly realized it was exactly what I was meant to pursue long-term.
This pursuit took me to Southern California to work with The A21 Campaign, an anti human trafficking organization. In 2014 I finished up a Masters in Biblical Counseling before moving to Chicago, Illinois in 2016 to pursue a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. At the beginning of 2018 a big leap of faith moved me to Nashville, TN to work as Clinical Mental Health Counselor where I currently work at The Refuge Center for Counseling.
You never know where the plan of God will lead, and there is an unmatched peace in being ok with not knowing exactly where you’re going. Why? Because you’re confident in the character and intentions of the One who is leading you. The important thing is that we know HIM, and can rest knowing HE knows the desires of our heart, where we’re going, and how He’ll take us there.
I’m not saying it’s easy but I’m continuing to learn that letting God lead and walking at His pace is always worth it, no matter how dark and windy the road may appear. He promises that the narrow path leads to a place of great fulfillment. So here we are, walking this windy road together, and as I write from research I’ve discovered and experiences I’ve had, I hope in some way that these simple articles bring some hope and joy to your corner of the world!
